you can’t possibly start a race war because the planet has been in a race war for over a thousand years.

the whites always win.

we’ve tried erasing race, deleting it from history books, ignoring it, pretending it doesn’t exist, blaming non-whites for race along with every form of denial known to humanity, while we kill / rape / torture / starve / rob them.

but, race has not gone away because we have not stopped killing.

to be white, is to ignore what we do to non-whites and to use that denial as justification to continue doing it. we do not see race because we enjoy the privilege of racism. we don’t want to admit that - ever, but it is true. and no amount of denial will ever tide us over and make race go away. in fact, the opposite is true - the denial of race is the grease for the skids. without the denial, we are forced to address our racism and deal with whether or not white people can live on this earth without killing brown people.

furthermore, our entire identity as whites is predicated upon seeing ourselves as “better than” non-whites. we reinforce this by talking about non-white culture in negative terms and white culture in positive terms. (ex. in US football, black players are called “thugs” and white players are called “gritty”). this justifies violence because once we ‘dehumanize’ someone, we give ourselves permission for violence.

in addition to addressing denial, we have to confront that as whites, our known identities must change. how can we exist without being “better than” someone else?
