Yikes, this is sexist as fuck.

Like, what’s with the bizarre “Us vs. Them” mentality looming over every panel?

Also, really? 4 whole pages to say “All men are actually one idiotic conglomerate being that refute my logic as an individual woman.”

Top it off with over 9k people  I mean “women” agreeing with you.

The irony is cutting through me like buttterrrrrrrrrrr.

A woman that paints all men with one brush claiming sexism is used against women alone. Pretty typical of an internet post about sexism.

Your comic is complete horseshit, fuck off hater.

the comic actually just acts to illustrate how most debates about sexism happen on the internet. and its unfortunate that like 90% of the time, the comic is true to life.

like if it wasnt evidence enough, there are plenty of guys (unfortunately) who read this comic, take immediate offense, and act like sexism isn’t real or goes both ways etc etc which is exactly the kind of thing this comic is addressing. rather than letting a woman have an outlet, a guy feels he needs to step in and talk about how oppressed he is and how girls people shouldnt complain, and how feminists are just misandrist sexist cunts themselves who dont do any favors in the name of equality.

anyway basically what im getting at here is that the internet is full of misogyny and pretty much anyone who says otherwise is kind of entitled and likely male and welp

How “most debates about sexism on the internet happen”? 90% of the time? Yes, I’m sure of it. 90% of all men objectify women and are just walking erections seeking to gratify themselves. 90% of men are hopeless, boorish dolts with a learning impediment and no regards or empathy for the opposite corollary of the human condition. Good dissertation, Abby. Your field work on the subject is impeccable.

If you found that the artist attempted to give any other visual, you’re just as ass backward as this comic. I didn’t read this comic and think “WOW MEN CAN BE SEXIST? NAH, THAT’S JUST WHAT A WOMAN WOULD TRY TO SAY”, nor is it a heinous crime to ever assume that, say, a woman could be just as sexist as a man.

She can have all the fucking outlets she wants. I want her to go ahead and make an ass of herself if that’s what she’s so readily set to accomplish. I reserve my right to judge a work for its fallacy as much as she does to make them in her work.

Lastly, this isn’t complaining. It’s purporting the same agenda that she cries out against, blatant sexism. Complaining would be to direct the attacks’ source of bigotry to the message involved. When you link the source of bigotry to an entire demographic, without showing one guy in any panel in a positive light (as there are learned people despite their gender) it’s pretty likely you don’t deserve any damn sympathy at all.

I’m not defending a man’s right to have free reign over his speech, or the right to censor anyone who ‘complains’ as you were to put it. I’m defending a man’s right to decency and not needing to own up for every other creature with a penis without having to be judged in the same vein, with such arrogant prejudice.

To address your first paragraph, i implore anyone who ain’t a lady to post on the internet as a lady and see how differently you are treated. Compare this treatment to the first page of this comic: a girl posts a comic on the internet, a good portion of those comments will largely be inoffensive and/or complimentary, while the remaining half will be riddled with snide sexist bullshit. Examples—and every woman has heard this atleast once in her life—“wow, you’re funny for A GIRL” or “you sure are smart, FOR A GIRL” or some variation thereof. Am I saying this doesn’t happen with guys?  No. But let’s be totally real and totally honest: it doesn’t happen very often or it’s likely a non-issue. Men aren’t often dehumanized, devalued, or broken down the same way women are. Pretending that they do is ignorant. Playing down this beration because it sometimes happens to guys too is also ignorant. And let me say this now—women can do this to other women as well so no, I’m not just blaming men either.

To your second point, I don’t disagree that women can be equally sexist. Society as a whole is sexist. Arguing in favor of feminism isn’t to argue in favor of misandry, which I think I said before but maybe I didn’t say it properly. At any rate, this comic does generalize in what can be interpreted as a very misandrist viewpoint, but I think a lot of people reading this are reading it wrong: you are supposed to be reading it from the point of view of the initial lady who submit the comic. You are a (woman) bystander who happened to make a piece of work, happened to have your work devalued for your gender, and ultimately have your gender become an issue where it simply shouldn’t be at all. When sexism is argued, it often DOES dissolve into a lot of entitled whining from both sexes—but again, I feel it needs re-stating, not from a sexist point of view, but simply from reality here: a mans opinion is often thought of as the default. If you don’t think so, you probably don’t talk to enough women or ignore the sexism around you. This is where the whole “ignoring misogyny doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist” thing comes into play. And yeah, women can be just as bad, I’m not excusing it by any means.

To address your next point, how many comics, image macros, and memes can you think of where women are portrayed as stupidannoyingvapidwhores? How many TV shows, movies—pick a media, any single one—lump women together as this single cell WHOREganism; depict women as these harpy-like shrill cunts, only interested in your money, only interested in using you for material gain… I mean, hell, pick any stereotype against women, there’s a ton of them, and barely any of them are positive. Do these same type of stereotypes exist for men? Of course they do, and not mentioning them here isn’t devaluing mens plight, either. This is, however, an issue about womens rights, which a lot of women are still struggling for. This struggle is only made harder when those girls seeking to be taken seriously are degraded and lumped together with those “feminazi cunts”. Women can’t win, it seems! (and neither can men in this particular discussion)

Anyway what it all boils down to is that we’re all fighting for the right to like, get along here as equals. How this can be accomplished, I don’t know, but I felt the need to speak up in a bit of defense for this comic/author because I think ultimately, the message gets lost in favor of… Well, arguing the semantics of sexist bullshit.

What? But everyone knows men are oppressed and experience sexism as much as women! I mean, women complaining about sexism is EXACTLY THE SAME as men treating us like objects everyday right? I wonder how it must feel like to be this oppressed.
