Dear Feminists who aren’t vegan

you’re fucking up.

I’m probably going to get a lot of flack for posting this, but it’s very true. You’re missing something.

*This is not to say that non-vegan feminists are bad feminists or bad people. I wasn’t always vegan, I wasn’t always as informed as I am now, and I still have so much to learn. It’s a growing process.

^^agreed.

Not everyone lives in San Fran or wherever you live. In a lot of places, it is exceptionally hard and, yes, expensive to eat fully and healthfully. Especially places that are predominantly non-white. There have been posts on Tumblr demonstrating this. And then you’re forgetting Native Americans. Do you know how much a bottle of orange juice costs for them? Literally 8 dollars or more. Not everyone is privileged, white and rich. And telling a feminist they have to be like you, is anti-feminist.

You said this:

I’m really not sure where this whole “vegan is absurdly expensive” thing came from. And it really blows my mind. When I was out in San Francisco my boyfriend and I ate healthfully and fully off of his food stamps. One person getting food stamps to feed two people in a house. We never went hungry. Veggies are not expensive.

Look at these images, technologicalsmash, and tell me again how cheap food is.

Fuck you. Fuck you and all of your white bullshit.

Dear feminists who are vegan: you are fucking up you white supremacist eurocentric-ethics pieces of shit.

I’m really not sure where this whole “vegan is absurdly expensive” thing came from. And it really blows my mind. LOLZ, SF is like the easiest place ever for a white person to get food stamps and have access to good food. I know this because three of my friends (two of them white) got food stamps when they weren’t even in need, by lying. Which honestly I am fine with. I am cool with milking our government at every opportunity we can get.

It’s fucking SF. White privilege paradise, USA. Access to these oh-so-healthful veggies is not available to everyone. West Oakland for example is a huge fucking food desert. There are no grocery stores here. And the ones that are closest (Pak n’ Save) have wayyyy higher prices than, say, Rainbow Grocery in SF or the Berkeley Bowl - and really shitty produce options. Or should we abandon our burgers for tofu? Then we can inject even more estrogen into our systems and give ourselves even more cancer than we’re already susceptible to living in these neighborhoods! Doesn’t really seem to solve anyone’s problems here, does it?

newayz, stop trying to force your ethics onto people of different cultures. Their cultural diets exist for a reason. And how about all of my people who pick your healthful veggies? I call self-righteous, white supremacist bullshit. But hey, what do you expect? ~Vegan feminists~

I just wanted this on my blog.

for commentary about whiteness. cosigned
